Original Works
Dance-Operas
Our evening length mainstage presentations are fully staged theatrical works. These extraordinary pieces push the genre boundaries of story-telling through music and movement to tell epic narratives of spiritually transformative journeys.
Conference of the Birds is based on Sufi mystic poet Attar’s seminal text. The story follows the birds of the world who embark on a journey to find their king, the Simurgh, a divine, mythical creature.
Harlequin and Pierrot, two characters in the Commedia dell’arte often depicted as companions, are actually the same person in The Moon Has Made Us Brothers. The story chronicles how the sad and naive Pierrot eventually came to be the romantic Harlequin.
Saharava is the telling of the hero’s journey as portrayed in the Major Arcana of the Tarot. It is the journey of The Fool, as narrated by The Magician, from ignorance to understanding.
